JD Vance’s reaction to Trump’s shooting has become even more dangerous

The statement did not go down well online, where many pointed out that much of the day’s extreme rhetoric came from Vance’s own corner. Last week, the Trump campaign claims that Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, eat pets and after the assassination said that Biden and Harris are “the enemy from within,” while urging them to tone down their rhetoric.

And Trump himself has often portrayed his political opponents as fascists hell-bent on destroying the country. In the 2024 election campaign, Trump called Kamala Harris a “radical left Marxist communist fascist” and said their politics: “This is communist. This is Marxist. This is fascist.”

In May, after Trump was found guilty on 34 counts by a Manhattan jury, said the Biden administration is “destroying our country,” adding: “We live in a fascist state.” In November 2023 praised “to eradicate the communists, Marxists, fascists and radical left thugs who live like vermin within the borders of our country.” Already in 2020 educated the specter of “left fascism” in the Democratic Party, saying: “Fascists! They are fascists. Some of them, not all of them, but some of them. But they are getting closer.”
