Dresden: Man pretends to be a police officer

Dresden- In the Dresden district of Weißer Hirsch, unknown persons cheated an elderly couple out of 110,000 euros.

According to the Dresden Police Department, the senior citizens had initially received a call in which the person claiming to be a police officer.

The man told them that people in the area were active and that they had to protect their spare part. He would send an investigator to them.

A short time later, the supposed police officer showed up at the door of the couple’s apartment. The elderly couple restrained the man and showed him the savings they had collected.

At an opportune moment, the perpetrator stole the approximately 110,000 euros and fled the apartment.

In the event of a theft, the police advise never to give unknown persons any information about your assets or sensitive data.

Also, you shouldn’t open the door to people you don’t know.

If you suspect that you are talking to an untrustworthy person, ask for their name, hang up and call the local police on 110 to describe the situation.

Money and other valuables should never be handed over to strangers – even if they are allegedly employees of the police, public prosecutors, courts or banks.
