These Samsung Galaxy S25+ leaks contain both good and bad news

These Samsung Galaxy S25+ leaks contain both good and bad news

Key findings

  • The Samsung Galaxy S25+ will reportedly have a 4,900 mAh battery, the same capacity as the Galaxy S24+.
  • Meanwhile, another leak has revealed that all three Galaxy S25 models could be 0.4mm thinner than the last generation variants.
  • Rumor has it that Samsung will offer an improved ultra-wide-angle camera sensor with the high-end Galaxy S25 Ultra next year.

There are still a few months left until the Samsung Galaxy S25 series is released, but that doesn’t mean there is a lack of leaks and rumors about the upcoming flagship range. While many of the leaks have, as expected, focused on the top-of-the-line Galaxy S25 Ultra and even the base model, we haven’t heard much about the equally popular Plus variant. But that’s all changing now, as some reports are giving us a glimpse of the upcoming Galaxy smartphone.

A report from July said the Galaxy S25 Ultra would use the same 5,000mAh battery as the Galaxy S24 Ultra. German-language tech news site Winfuture now claims the Galaxy S25+ will follow the same path and stick with a 4,900mAh battery (announced), which has a nominal capacity of 4,755mAh, unchanged from the Galaxy S24+ (via SamMobile).

While we’re still about four months away from the launch of these new flagships, key decisions regarding the battery and other hardware have likely already been made by the company’s top brass. So unless something big happens by then, we don’t expect any battery-related changes to the Galaxy S25 series. However, there could be changes in other areas.

Now for the good news about the Galaxy S25+. Well-known tech industry leaker Ice Universe said in an X/Twitter post that the Galaxy S25+ 7.3mm thick, a reduction of 0.4 mm compared to the last generation model. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S25 Ultra will reportedly only 8.2mm thick, which is consistent with previous rumors, while the Galaxy S25 apparently comes at 7.2mm.

Based on these numbers, it looks like Samsung is looking to make all three phones 0.4mm thinner than their predecessors. Ice Universe also echoed Winfuture’s claims about the Galaxy S25+ and its battery capacity, while also shedding light on the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 Ultra’s unchanged battery packs.

Making the three smartphones thinner than their last-gen counterparts is no easy task. This would also explain why Samsung is unwilling to offer larger batteries on these upcoming smartphones. While the wait for a larger battery on a Galaxy flagship could extend until early 2026, Samsung is expected to make some other changes to its most expensive Ultra model next year. A report last week detailed how the manufacturer could offer an improved ultra-wide-angle camera on the Galaxy S25 Ultra. We also expect rounded corners and narrower bezels on the Ultra variant.
