“Happy Gilmore 2” is looking for extras for filming in Atlantic Highlands

If you’ve always wanted to be an extra in a movie, today might be your chance.

Happy Gilmore 2 – a sequel to Adam Sandler’s 1996 hit – is being filmed in Atlantic Highlands and the casting company is looking for extras. According to Backstage – a website that lists current acting job openings – Grant Wilfley Casting is looking for men aged 18 or older to portray spectators at a 1990s golf tournament. They should be able to provide golf attire such as khakis and polo shirts or casual wear such as “timeless” jeans and shirts. They also ask that potential cast members not have “super-modern hairstyles.”

Filming will take place today in Atlantic Highlands and the position will pay a flat rate of $176 for a 10-hour workday, according to the job posting.

Last month, hundreds of people crowded into the Hyatt Regency hotel in Morristown for open casting calls for extras, waiting in line, some with golf clubs in hand, hoping to get a spot to act alongside Sandler.

Happy Gilmore 2 will be released on Netflix. According to IMDB, Sandler will reprise his role as Happy Gilmore, while Christopher McDonald will play his arch-nemesis Shooter McGavin. Super Bowl winner and boyfriend of Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce, will also appear in the film. Scenes will be shot across New Jersey, including locations in Bergen, Essex, Morris, Somerset and Monmouth counties.

In recent weeks, Sandler has been spotted with crew members at various local businesses, including a coffee shop in Morristown. During an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon a few weeks ago, he talked about the upcoming filming.
