Kamala Harris’ campaign team trolls Donald Trump over people leaving rallies

Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign team has mocked Donald Trump by sharing a video in which people appear to be leaving one of the former president’s rallies while he was speaking on stage.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the account @KamalaHQ shared a recent clip from an interview Trump gave to the news outlet Real America’s Voice, in which he said that “virtually no one” leaves his campaign rallies before they are over.

Harris’ remarks were a response to a comment she made on September 13 during the pair’s first presidential debate. The vice president said people were leaving Trump’s rallies early “out of exhaustion and boredom.”

In addition to the interview clip with Trump, @KamalaHQ posted a video of people in half-filled bleachers, some of whom appear to be making their way toward the exit as the former president can be heard speaking.

“Trump: Kamala Harris said people are leaving my rallies. No one is leaving,” @KamalaHQ wrote while sharing the videos.

Over the years, Trump has repeatedly cited the size of crowds at his rallies as evidence of his popularity, sometimes exaggerating the number of attendees by tens of thousands.

It is unclear when and where the second clip was recorded, whether the people were leaving the event or, if so, whether the event was nearing its end.

Newsweek has emailed Trump and Harris’ campaign teams for comment.

During the campaign, @KamalaHQ was frequently accused of sharing misleading or out-of-context clips and captions to criticize Trump.

On September 12, the account posted an eight-second clip suggesting that Trump mistakenly thought he was in Pennsylvania while speaking at a campaign rally in Arizona.

Further recordings of the speech show Trump referring to Charleroi, Pennsylvania, saying there had been a “2,000 percent increase in the number of Haitian migrants” under Kamala Harris.

He then appeared to appeal to voters in Pennsylvania during a speech in Arizona. “So, Pennsylvania, remember this when you go to vote,” Trump said.

In August, the Instagram account @KamalaHQ posted a six-second video from a Trump campaign rally in Pennsylvania in which the former president pointed to part of the crowd and said, “Would that be OK, North Carolina? I don’t think so, do you?”

The video’s caption said Trump was “lost and confused.” However, the former president was speaking to a group of supporters who had traveled from North Carolina to attend the rally in Pennsylvania, and he had mentioned them earlier in his speech.

During her first – and possibly only – presidential debate, Harris said she would do something “really unusual” and invited viewers to attend one of Trump’s rallies.

“During his rallies, he talks about fictional characters like Hannibal Lecter. He talks about how windmills cause cancer. And it’s also noticeable that people leave his rallies early out of exhaustion and boredom,” Harris said.

Trump responded, “People don’t leave my rallies. We have the biggest rallies, the most incredible rallies in the history of politics.” He went on to make the false claim that migrants are “eating the dogs” in Springfield, Ohio.
