Floods in June: Happy Match in Obereisesheim reopens indoors

The Happy Match in Obereisesheim has taken an important step back to normal operations after the severe flood damage in June of this year. At the beginning of June, a severe storm in Heilbronn led to severe flooding in the region. Obereisesheim, a district of Neckarsulm, was particularly badly affected. Here, the water is knee-deep in places and completely flooded the Happy Match restaurant and the adjacent sports facilities.

“The flood was a very big challenge for us,” says Sebastian Häberlen, owner of Happy Match, when asked by Heilbronn VoiceThe damage caused by the water was enormous, and the subsequent renovation work presented the entire team and all helpers with major challenges. “We were able to do some things ourselves at the beginning.” “We cleaned up a lot, but towards the end we had to rely on professional companies to take on certain jobs,” Häberlen explained.

While the companies commissioned to do the renovation took care of the renovation, the owner and his team concentrated on running the beer garden. From June 24th, guests were at least able to visit the popular outdoor area of ​​Happy Match again. This brought the first glimmer of hope in a difficult phase.

Reason for hope in Happy Match: “Full opening sometime at the end of this year”

Nevertheless, the complete reopening of the interior remains a challenge. “Our front room towards the terrace is not yet finished. “First the plaster must be removed from the walls and the screed must be laid,” explains Häberlen.

Renovation work is also needed in the restaurant’s wellness area. “I expect that we can aim for a full opening by the end of this year, but I can’t say for sure,” he adds.

However, there is reason for hope: On September 15, Happy Match announced on Facebook that at least part of the interior is open. “The first tables are ready and can be reserved,” it says on Facebook. The owner is particularly optimistic about the upcoming Christmas parties: “We already have a few reservations for Christmas,” he says happily.

For Happy Match, the partial reopening represents an important step forward. Despite the ongoing challenges, the team remains positive and looks forward to the coming months with hope.
