  • R&B and soul instead of techno: Club Kauz is starting a new concert series in a family setting with a maximum of 120 guests.

  • The famous “Tiny Desk” format serves as a model.

  • Ticket prices range from CHF 25 to a maximum of CHF 35.

The Zurich club Kauz is advertised online as a “small club with big parties”. For many night owls, it is one of the best techno clubs in the region. From Thursday onwards, however, things will be much more civilized once a month: for the concert series “Tiny Nest Concerts”, Swiss rising stars such as Pilar Vega, Ay Wing and Lily Claire will now take to the stage once a month.

R&B, soul and pop instead of techno beats. But why? “We want to offer a music experience that is rarely found in Zurich,” says Noah Petschi from the Zurich club Kauz. “At concerts, I often miss the closeness between the audience and the musicians on stage.”

The “Tiny Nest” performances therefore take place in a family setting with a maximum of 120 guests.

NPR’s Tiny Desk as a model

At the expertly moderated concerts in the Kauz, listeners should also be able to ask the musicians questions and get to know them, says Petschi. “Our goal is to establish a concert series where people dare to listen to unfamiliar bands, try something new and find out more about the music and the band.”

The format was inspired by the legendary “NPR Tiny Desk” sessions, where countless artists have been able to play their music in an acoustic setting, says Petschi. “Excerpts from the Tiny Nest concerts can also be heard online.”

The owl is following in big footsteps: Mac Miller’s Tiny Desk concert has already had 120 million views on YouTube, and the one with Alicia Keys has over 38 million.
