Vuelta shooting star included – German squad for Cycling World Championships set

Shortly before the end of his active career, professional cyclist Simon Geschke can distinguish himself one last time at a World Championship. The Berlin native is part of the German Cycling Federation (BDR) squad for the championships in Zurich (21 to 29 September). The 38-year-old Geschke is scheduled to compete in the road race on the final day of the World Championships, for which the BDR has received six starting places.

In addition to Geschke, Marco Brenner, Georg Steinhauser, Maximilian Schachmann, Georg Zimmermann and Florian Lipowitzwho recently attracted attention with seventh place overall at the Vuelta in Spain, to enter the race for the rainbow jersey.

Florian Storck and Jonas Rutsch are scheduled to be substitute driversSchachmann and Miguel Heidemann will compete in the individual time trial next Sunday. Both will be competing in the mixed relay with Brenner on Wednesday.
