Start for Kiez(er)leben: Action & Events in Cottbus-Sachsendorf

Join in, celebrate and discover! This week, the Cottbus district of Sachsendorf really comes to life. The Sachsendorf/Madlow eV citizens’ association invites you to the “Kiez(er)leben” action week. From September 18 to 21, 2024, visitors can expect a variety of events in the Bunte Welt, among others, which show that there is a lot going on in the neighborhood too. The event kicks off on Wednesday with a reading by Franziska Steinhauer. The first “quiz lab” follows on Thursday; advance registration is requested. On September 20, the district center under the tent will be transformed into a gaming area with a Mario Kart tournament and a table football company cup. The event will conclude on September 21 with an open day with a live concert by the rapper “Asiate” in the Bunte Welt. Admission to all events is free.

There’s nothing going on here” or “It’s boring here” – these are phrases that are often heard in the peripheral areas of the classic prefabricated housing areas. The Sachsendorf/Madlow Citizens’ Association, in cooperation with the integration and district management, would like to address these in a theme week entitled “Kiez(er)leben”. Many people are familiar with the enjoyment of cultural offerings in the city center, so why don’t we use the opportunities in the neighborhood? The local citizens’ association sees itself as responsible for filling the municipal object and gem “Kulturzentrum Bunte Welt” with further life. Outside of concerts, new formats will take place from September 18th to 21st, 2024.

Reading & Quiz Lab

The organizers are delighted to welcome Franziska Steinhauer to a reading of “Menschenfänger” on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 from 5:30 p.m. (doors open at 5:00 p.m.). Admission is free, space is limited. The following day, the first quiz lab will take place in the Bunte Welt at 7:00 p.m. (doors open at 6:30 p.m.). Advance registration is required at www.quizlabor.de.

E-Sport Event & Table Football Cup on Friday

On Friday, September 20, 2024, the district center will be transformed into a gaming area. Under the tent, 32 Super Mario Kart pilots will compete against each other online and 24 teams will compete in the table football company cup. The event will be moderated by DJ Tobi Müller. The registration process can be found on the citizens’ association’s website (www.sachsendorf-madlow.de). There are attractive prizes to be won in both competitions.

Open Day & Hio Hio Festival on Saturday

The theme week will end on Saturday, September 21, 2024 with an open day in the Bunte Welt, where the clubs and institutions based there will offer an insight into their activities. The doors will open at 2:30 p.m. Food and drink will be provided. Things will get a little louder from 7 p.m. (admission 6 p.m.) for the concert “Bunte Welt meets Hip Hop Vol. II” with local acts such as Mr. Pinc, OSTRICHO, Paitheck Elms, Zastah and Onkel OXO. The headliner of the evening is “Der Asiate”. A parental permission letter is required for 16 and 17 year olds. Admission is also free here.

Creative design

The week will be framed in a creative form by and with MJ Kunst mit Herz, who will be refreshing one or two motifs on the object using graffiti. The activities are supported by the IGBCE, to whom the organizers would like to express their sincere thanks. The organizers are looking forward to regular participation and interest in the offers, as well as pleasant conversations, suggestions for further events and quality time spent together.
