Suspected getaway driver arrested for weekend murder, search for suspected shooter continues

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – A man has been arrested in connection with a shooting at a restaurant after midnight on Saturday, Sept. 14, while the suspected shooter remains at large.

According to Toledo police, 28-year-old Isiah Pressley was in a crowd outside the This is It BBQ restaurant in the 300 block of Detroit Avenue when shots rang out. Pressley was shot in the face and later died at the hospital.

Police allege that 27-year-old Kenan Smith was the driver who helped the shooter. They say he picked up 27-year-old Deontae Mitchell after an altercation at the restaurant. After driving around the block, he parked north of the bar when Mitchell allegedly got out and fired several shots into a crowd, hitting Pressley.

The two then fled the scene in their black Dodge Charger.

Both Smith and Mitchell are charged with murder and aggravated assault.

Smith was arrested Saturday night. His bail was set at $1 million in court on Monday. He will appear in court again tomorrow.

Mitchell has not yet been caught.
