After the fire near the Brocken summit, the police are looking for witnesses and images – and for the hikers who reported the fire from Wurmberg. The forest fire broke out at the beginning of September on Königsberg. Airplanes, helicopters and a homemade fire engine were also used to extinguish the fire.

After the forest fire on the Brocken, the police are looking for witnesses who took photos or filmed on the day of the outbreak. The fire in the Harz Mountains near the Kesselklippe on the Königsberg broke out on the first Friday in September (September 6). As a result, the Brocken was closed for five days.

As the Harz district announced on Monday afternoon, people who took photos or videos of the side of the Brocken between Eckerloch and Goethebahnhof on the day the fire broke out between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. should come forward.

In addition, hikers who reported the fire from the “Gipfelstürmer” snack bar on Wurmberg should contact the police. As a spokeswoman for the MDR SACHSEN-ANHALT district told, the officers hope to find out the exact time the fire broke out.

Several planes and helicopters, including those from the German army and the police, were involved in the operation. The Benneckenstein fire department’s homemade fire engine also helped with the firefighting. The fire had spread over several fire sources over a length of about one kilometer. The forest fire on Königsberg was considered to have been extinguished on September 11. According to the police, investigations are currently underway in all directions.
