Tennis – DTB in best line-up for the Billie Jean King Cup – Sport

Team manager Rainer Schüttler can rely on the best possible personnel for the final round of the Billie Jean King Cup. As the German Tennis Association (DTB) announced on Monday, Tatjana Maria, Jule Niemeier, Laura Siegemund and Eva Lys will fight for the most important team title in women’s tennis in Malaga. “The players have all already gained experience in the Billie Jean King Cup and shown what qualities they have,” said Schüttler. The fifth place in the team will be filled at a “later date”.

The former tennis pro will have to do without two players, Angelique Kerber and Anna-Lena Friedsam, who were part of the 3-1 away win in the qualifying round against Brazil. Kerber ended her career at the Olympic Games in Paris, and Friedsam is currently in rehabilitation training after a knee injury. Niemeier, who was not considered for the games in São Paulo due to her poor form, is back in the team. From November 13 to 20, the best tournaments will see twelve international women’s teams play for their winners. The German selection will start the competition on November 15 against Great Britain.
