Google Pixel 10 codenames leaked for all devices!

Google Pixel 10 codenames leaked for all devices!

The Google Pixel 9, 9 Pro, 9 Pro XL and 9 Pro Fold have barely hit the shelves and we can already tell you the code names of Google’s next generation of Pixel devices.

It has been leaked several times that the codename for Pixel 9a will be “Tegu,” which we can also confirm. We expect the Pixel 9a to be announced around Google I/O in May, the same time the A-series is usually announced.

As for the Pixel 10 series, the Pixel 10 is codenamed “Frankel.” And good news for those who liked the size of the Pixel 9 Pro: There will be a Pixel 10 Pro and a Pixel 10 Pro XL. The Pixel 10 is codenamed “Blazer” and the Pixel 10 Pro XL is called “Mustang.”

Finally, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold will be codenamed “Rango.” Again, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold is expected to launch in the fall alongside the rest of the Pixel 10 series. The only Pixel device scheduled to launch before fall 2025 is expected to be the Google Pixel 9a.

The smaller Pixel “Pro” will remain for another year

While it’s too early to see how well the Pixel 9 Pro will do in terms of sales, Google remains committed to releasing a Pixel 10 Pro next year, and that’s great news. For years, we’ve wanted a smaller flagship phone that doesn’t compromise, and Google has finally delivered that with the Pixel 9 Pro in 2024.

Apple tried this before with the iPhone 12 Mini, but the problem was that the battery life was abysmal and it wasn’t a flagship phone; it was their entry-level phone with a smaller screen. Because of this, Apple had to discontinue it after the launch of the iPhone 13 Mini in 2021. Sony also offered a small flagship phone in its “Compact” lineup. Although Sony no longer uses the “Compact” name, it does have a compact phone in the Sony Xperia 5 series. However, it’s not a true high-end or flagship phone, and it’s also relatively expensive – not to mention it’s not sold in the US.

That really leaves only the standard Galaxy S models from Samsung. The Galaxy S24 is a more compact phone with a 6.2-inch display, but doesn’t have the same specs as the Ultra model. The Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL, on the other hand, are exactly the same, the only differences being the screen size and battery size (and charging, due to the larger battery). Hopefully the smaller Pro models sell well enough for Google to keep them on offer.
