Berlin – He has boarded Germany’s largest hotel twice in a row: Now the police arrested the suspected burglar.

Security staff at the Estrel Berlin first became aware of the 52-year-old via a camera, officials announced on Monday.

According to the report, they saw video recordings of the man violently breaking into the office rooms of the hotel on Sonnenallee in Neukölln at around 5 p.m. on Monday. He is said to have used a cordless screwdriver to do so.

The suspect then fled – but without any loot.

About eight hours later, he reportedly slipped back in. The security guards noticed him again in the hotel at around 1 a.m.

According to police, the suspected burglar forced open an office door on Ziegrastrasse. He stole three tool cases and then left the premises.

A security guard was able to detain the suspect and alert the police.

The officers took him into custody and brought him to the police station, where he was fingerprinted. The 52-year-old is due to appear before a judge today, Monday.
