The PS5 Pro is just around the corner, but can it offer Grand Theft Auto VI in 4K at 60fps? Experts doubt that the expensive console will keep its promise.

Hamburg – The PS5 Pro is about to be released, a more powerful version of the popular console. Many gamers are wondering whether the new console will be able to play GTA 6 at 60 frames per second. Expert opinions suggest that this is rather unlikely. And this despite the fact that the console, including the stand and disc drive, will cost around €950. What was missing from the expensive and also better console?

The PS5 Pro and its performance promises

Can the PS5 Pro meet expectations? The PS5 Pro brings some improvements over the base version. However, the idea that it can display GTA 6 in 4K and 60fps is questioned by experts at Digital Foundry. They explain that while the new console can improve graphical details, the CPU-related requirements of GTA 6 will challenge a constant 60fps frame rate.

This is where the Pros fail: Richard Leadbetter of Digital Foundry points out that the PS5 Pro uses the same processor as the PS5, so it would be difficult to reach 60fps when the base version of GTA 6 (on the PS5) only targets 30fps. The open world of GTA 6 requires significant CPU power to simulate traffic and NPCs, which puts a strain on the PS5 Pro’s capabilities.

GTA 6 probably runs better on the PS5 Pro anyway

What does the PS5 Pro really offer? While it seems unlikely that the PS5 Pro will be able to run GTA 6 in 4K at 60fps, it is expected to offer other visual improvements. Leadbetter predicts that the console will be able to offer better image quality and more stable performance, especially when running games that already run on the standard PS5.

Will the PS5 Pro be a success?

Can the PS5 Pro convince? The PS5 Pro will launch in November and it remains to be seen how it will perform in practice. While some of its promised features seem realistic, the question remains as to how well it can meet gamers’ expectations. The PS5 Pro could be a worthwhile investment for many PlayStation fans, but whether it will offer the big leap in performance that many are hoping for remains to be seen.
