Tomas Berdych succeeds Jaroslav Navrátil

Tomas Berdych is officially back on the big tennis stage. After the Czech has occasionally been involved in major tournaments as an advisor to Jiri Lehecka, Berdych will now take over the role of Davis Cup captain in his home country.

The Czech Republic played in Valencia this week with the three singles players Lehecka, Tomas Machac and Jakub Mensik, but lost all three matches against Australia, France and the hosts Spain. Also because Machac had to give up in two matches due to injury.

During his active career, Tomas Berdych took part in 29 international Davis Cup matches. His singles record was 29 wins and 15 losses, while in doubles he only lost twice in 21 victories.
