76th Emmys: Olympian Ilona Maher walks the red carpet

Olympian Ilona Maher was all smiles as she posed for photos on the Emmys red carpet on Sunday.

The rugby player appeared in a midnight blue peplum dress and accessorized with diamond earrings.

It’s been a turbulent year for Maher, who helped the U.S. women’s rugby team to a bronze medal at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

She is also the digital cover star of the 2024 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and has used her platform to advocate for body positivity and raise awareness for women’s sports.

Next stop for Maher is the ballroom, where she will compete with dance pro Alan Bersten on season 33 of Dancing with the Stars. Ahead of the new season, she and Bersten have been sharing videos on TikTok of the fun moments they had during their practice sessions.

The 76th Primetime Emmy Awards are currently taking place in Los Angeles.

Eugene and Dan Levy host the show, which begins at 8 p.m. ET live on ABC.
