ITV star ‘Coronation Street’ reveals how Gail Platt is leaving the soap – and it’s heartbreaking

Coronation Street’s Gail Platt is leaving the soap later this year – but her co-star accidentally leaked an important detail about the storyline of her exit

A Coronation Street star has apparently revealed a key detail about Gail Platt’s impending exit. Earlier this year it was confirmed that Gail Platt’s actress Helen Worth is leaving the soap after 50 years. Soap bosses have promised viewers her exit will be an emotional story.

It was also revealed that the legend’s surprise exit is part of a “big” new storyline for the Platt family. Ex-husband Martin Platt (Sean Wilson) was originally planned to return. Although he had already recorded his scenes on set, he left the soap opera for “personal reasons.”

But recently, a Corrie actor seemed to “leak” a major clue about how Gail will leave the show – and it’s sure to cause a stir. This week, Dee Dee Bailey actress Channique Sterling-Brown shared a snap from the set on her Instagram story.

Channique took a late-night photo of the famous cobblestones. She captioned the photo, “Nothing like a night shoot to regret dancing until 2am,” and added a crying emoji. However, the snap featured an estate agent’s sign in the front garden of Gail’s home, 8 Coronation Street, confirming that the beloved residence is for sale.

Current residents of the house include Gail’s son David Platt, his wife Shona and children Max and Lily. Gail’s other children, Nick Tilsley and Sarah Platt, live in their own homes with their own children.

When Helen announced her exit from the soap in June, she said: “This year seemed the perfect time to leave the show after celebrating 50 years in the most wonderful job on the most wonderful street in the world. The last 50 years have flown by and I don’t think I’ve quite processed the fact that I’m leaving yet.”

Elsewhere, fans recently feared that the previous major change could mean the story of Gail’s departure will be rewritten and include a heartbreaking twist. Viewers shared their thoughts online, claiming they “saw through” how Gail will now leave – fearing she could be killed off.

One person wrote: “Dear #Corrie producers… whatever you do DO NOT let Gail Platt die.” (sic) A second person wrote: “This scares me that she decided Gail should be killed off instead. I’m genuinely scared.”
