Vermont State Police investigate suspicious deaths in Pawlet case

PAWLET – Vermont State Police have launched an investigation into suspicious deaths in the town of Pawlet in Rutland County after receiving a call about a suspicious person early in the morning of Sept. 15.

When police arrived at a home on Vermont Route 133, they discovered the dead.

The investigation is currently in its initial phases and is being conducted by the Vermont State Police Major Crimes Unit, Bureau of Criminal Investigations, Crime Scene Search Team, Field Force Division and Victim Services Unit.

After the crime scene investigation team examines the bodies, they are transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Burlington for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.

Authorities will release the names of the victims once identities have been confirmed and next of kin have been notified.

Investigators believe this is an isolated incident and that there is currently no ongoing threat to the community.
