Table Tennis Series WTT – First European in the Champions Final: Dang Qiu loses – Sport

Macao (dpa) – The German national table tennis player Dang Qiu is the first European player to compete in the final of a WTT Champions tournament. The European singles champion from Borussia Dortmund lost 0:4 sets to the junior world champion Lin Shidong from China in Macao on Sunday.

On the way to this final, the 27-year-old Dang had defeated, among others, the Swedish Bundesliga professional Mattias Falck from Werder Bremen, the Chinese team world champion Liang Jingkun and the tournament surprise Kao Cheng-Jui from Taiwan.

The Champions tournaments are the second of a total of five categories in the World Table Tennis (WTT) tournament series, which has been played since 2021, after the Grand Smash competitions. The only German Champions tournament will take place in Frankfurt am Main in November.
