Darts: “I dare to show more personality on stage” – Chris Dobey enjoys the World Series of Darts Finals

Darts: “I dare to show more personality on stage” – Chris Dobey enjoys the World Series of Darts Finals

Chris Dobey is in the quarter-finals of the World Series of Darts Finals for the first time in his career. Hollywood had a tough time in the second round with Boris Krcmar, but won 6-4 and will now face number one seed Luke Littler.

Dobey and Krcmar gave the AFAS live audience a great match, with both men averaging well over 100. They gave each other very little and for a while it looked like an eleventh and final leg would decide the match. In the end, however, Dobey prevailed 6-4. He was aware, however, that he had got off to a good start. “Boris played brilliantly and made it extremely difficult for me,” he said.

“I knew I had to play much better than in my first round against Dimitri Van den Bergh. I did that, especially my finishes went particularly well. Boris is someone who is often underestimated, but he is a great player.”

After a finish, Dobey lost his composure a few times. “Since taking part in the Premier League Darts last year, I’ve dared to show more personality on stage. This win was very pleasing in every respect, I’m very happy. I enjoyed this match.”

Dobey will face Luke Littler in the quarterfinals. “We are in the same management and get on well,” he says. “Of course Luke is a great player, but I firmly believe in my chances. I lost our last match together by a landslide, but the revenge was successful (laughs).”

The winner of the party between Dobey and Littler will face the winner of the duel between Michael van Gerwen and Luke Humphries in the semi-final on Sunday evening.
