Tottenham vs Arsenal live score: Premier League updates, results from Spurs’ north London derby showdown

The 65th North London derby of the Premier League era takes place on Sunday when Tottenham host Arsenal.

The Gunners have won their last two visits to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and have lost just one of their last seven derbies, coming in May 2022.

However, Mikel Arteta, who signed a new contract at Arsenal this week, may be a little nervous about this game. This will be the first time they have faced Declan Rice for a league match since he signed a £105 million deal in July 2023 after the England star served a suspension. Club captain Martin Odegaard is also out with an injury sustained during the international break, so Arteta has some things to sort out when it comes to the team line-up.

Despite largely dominating the game on Tyneside, Spurs lost to Newcastle United before the international break and are therefore determined to prove their point and dampen their arch-rivals’ title hopes at the start of the 2024/25 season.

Tottenham vs Arsenal: Lineups and team news

Son Heung-min has an excellent record of eight goals in North London derbies and may have to lead Spurs’ attack this weekend as Dominic Solanke is fighting back from an ankle injury and Richardson remains outside.

Micky van de Ven (knee) is assessed together with Yves Bissoumawho sustained an injury while playing for Mali.

Tottenham’s expected formation (4-2-3-1, from right to left): Vicario (GK) – Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Udogie – Sarr, Bentancur – Kulusevski, Maddison, Johnson – son

Injured: Micky van de Ven, Yves Bissouma, Dominic Solanke (all questionable), Richarlison
Exposed: None

Arteta would gladly swap Postecoglou’s only injury concern in midfield for his own situation. Together with rice was no longer available after his red card against Brighton & Hove Albion, Odegaard (ankle) has connection Mikel Merino (shoulder) on the sideline.

It means Kai Havertzwho impressed as a centre-forward in the first few weeks of the season, will likely drop back into an attacking midfield role. Gabriel Jesus will lead the line once he has sufficiently overcome his groin problems.

Riccardo Calafiori (calf) was injured under bizarre circumstances during an international match and, like his defensive colleagues, will be out Kieran Tierney (thigh) and Takehiro Tomiyasu (Knee).

Arsenal’s expected formation (4-2-3-1, from right to left): Raya (GK) – White, Saliba, Gabriel, Timber – Partey, Jorginho – Saka, Havertz, Trossard – Jesus

Injured: Martin Odegaard, Mikel Merino, Riccardo Calafiori, Kieran Tierney, Takehiro Tomiyasu.
Exposed: Declan Rice
