Félix Auger-Aliassime and Frank Dancevic have good prospects of reaching the final

The Davis Cup intermediate round in Zhuhai had at least one advantage: around lunchtime in Europe, you could already tick off the respective results. And after the USA and Germany had already been confirmed as group winners and runners-up after just two days of play, the tension remained within manageable limits on the last two days of play.

Not so in Manchester. Because everything is at stake for the home team today. Jack Draper, Dan Evans and Co. need a 3-0 win against Canada. Otherwise, there will be no Final Eight in Málaga. But the Maple Leafs around Félix Auger-Aliassime will not allow that to happen – because if they lose without winning a match, Canada would be out. The Argentinians have, somewhat surprisingly, already qualified – with 2 wins and a 6-3 match record.

In Bologna, the Brazilians are keeping their fingers crossed for the Italians today. If the defending champions, who have already qualified for the final round, beat the Netherlands 3-0, then Brazil would also travel to Málaga. Otherwise, it would be captain Paul Haarhuis’ team.

In Valencia, it is “only” about winning the group. And Spain and Australia will play it off against each other.
