Rostock’s basketball players decide against Crailsheim in the cup

For the Rostock Seawolves, the cup competition is over after the first round for the second year in a row. The basketball Bundesliga team had to admit defeat to relegated Hakro Merlins Crailsheim with a score of 77:79 (39:46) and was eliminated despite a strong final fighting performance in the minutes. The best scorer in the team of the new head coach Przemyslaw Frasunkiewicz was D’Shawn Schwartz (14 points).

On the last match day of last season, Rostock had the happier ending in the long-distance duel with the Merlins for a place in the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL). In the encounter with the second division team, the Seawolves were initially better, but then began to have problems. In the second period, the Moderators were also the dominant team for a long time and at one point moved ahead to 37:26.

After the break, Rostock had the Crailsheim offense much better under control and regained the lead for the first time in the middle of the third quarter. However, the success only lasted a short time. In the final quarter, Crailsheim pulled ahead to 68:58, and Rostock only managed to score again after more than four minutes. 30 seconds before the end, Aigars Skele reduced the score to 75:76, but the Seawolves could not avert defeat despite catching up.
