Jacksonville Jaguars are not respected by the media

The Jacksonville Jaguars have a chance for revenge against the Cleveland Browns in Week 2 after losing their game against the Miami Dolphins in Week 1.

They let a game slip away. They had plenty of room to win a winnable game and led 17-7 late in the third quarter. A costly turnover changed the momentum in the Dolphins’ favor and the Jaguars ultimately lost 20-17.

The media is generally unfavorable to the Jaguars, as our John Shipley reported in the weekly Power Rankings roundup. Sports Illustrated writers Albert Breer and Conor Orr, hosts of the MMQB podcast, explained how they think the Jaguars’ schedule will play out in terms of wins.

“Let’s play a quick game with the Jaguars,” Orr said. “Say stop when I bring up a game where you think there’s no chance they’re going to lose that game or definitely lose that game. Next week against Cleveland, the week after that in Buffalo, the week after that in Houston, the week after that against the Colts, the week after that against the Bears. The week after that, New England in London.”

Breer stayed with the Patriots. He also said he doubted the Jaguars’ chances based on New England’s performance in Week 1.

“And then the week after Green Bay, Jordan Love will be back at the end of October,” Orr said. “The week after Philadelphia, the week after Minnesota, the week after Detroit, Albert, the week after Houston, the week after Tennessee. The Titans didn’t look bad, I mean they looked pretty good the week after, the New York Jets.”

Breer was excited about the Jaguars’ chances against the Titans, but Orr said he sees “two wins in this schedule that are safe right now.”

The game was ridiculous, as was the revenue. No game is a guaranteed win. This is the NFL, so this is all questionable from the start. The Jaguars are not a team that has won two games. Quite the opposite.

A competent Super Bowl-winning head coach. A franchise quarterback. Young, talented weapons all over the field on offense and a defense with a dominant front seven. This is a playoff team.
