The rival game between rivals Washington and Washington State is usually played on the Friday after Thanksgiving, but with the Huskies leaving the Pac-12, the two rivals have negotiated a new contract to keep the annual clash on the schedule for both teams through 2028. This year, the duel will be played in Seattle.

Both teams are 2-0 to start the season, and there’s more to winning than just bragging rights. The Huskies are fresh off a 30-9 victory over Eastern Michigan that was built on a 261-yard, four-touchdown performance from quarterback Will Rogers. Washington, which finished second last season, is in its first year under coach Jedd Fisch and has traded away much of its roster.

The Cougars are fresh off an impressive 37-16 win over Texas Tech and have outscored their opponents 100-46 in their first two games. WSU quarterback John Mateer finished with 115 passing yards, 197 rushing yards and two touchdowns in the win over the Red Raiders.

Washington won the Apple Cup last season on a game-winning 42-yard field goal by Grady Gross that pushed the Huskies to 12-0 and kept the Huskies from a bowl berth. The Huskies lead the overall standings with a record of 75-33-6.
