Chelsea FC have finally found a buyer for ex-Union player David Datro Fofana. After an announced move to AEK Athens was not possible, the 21-year-old moved to Turkey on deadline day. Göztepe has loaned Fofana for a year, and the Süper Lig newcomers also secured an option to buy. As in Berlin, Chelsea are said to have a clause that would allow them to end the loan early in January.

The Blues had been trying to sell the attacker all summer. Fofana still has a long-term contract in London until 2029, but has not trained with the first team recently. Now Chelsea have agreed to a new loan. With a market value of 12 million euros, Fofana is by far the most valuable professional in Göztepe’s squad.

In January 2023, Chelsea paid 12 million euros for Fofana to Norwegian club Molde FK. Loans to Union Berlin and Burnley FC followed. For the Köpenickers, he was involved in three goals in 17 games in the first half of the 2023/24 season before Chelsea brought him back. Fofana then scored five goals in 15 games for the Clarets.
