India’s Golden Boy and now Silver Boy Neeraj Chopra will return to action in the Diamond League final in Belgium on Saturday, September 14. Chopra, who did not participate in the Diamond League’s four-leg javelin events in Paris and Zurich, was however able to score 14 points from Lausanne and Doha to finish fourth in the table. Chopra, the 2022 Diamond League winner and last year’s runner-up who has been struggling with his groin, will be looking to end the season on a high note.

Despite his injury problems, Chopra has broken the 89 mark three times in the last month and will be hoping to stay close to or even surpass that mark in Saturday’s final in Brussels. Japan’s Genki Dean, European champion Julian Weber, Olympic bronze medallist Anderson Peters, Finland’s Artur Felfner, Herman Timothy and Andrian Mardare are nominated for the event alongside Neeraj. Reigning champion Jakub Vadlejch will not take part, nor will Olympic gold medallist Arshad Nadeem.

It has been a long season for Neeraj, who has been sidelined in and out due to groin and adductor problems, so he is determined to end it all with the Diamond League winner’s trophy.
