Carlos Alcaraz sealed the Spanish team’s place in the final in Malaga.

The stage seemed perfect for top Spanish player Carlos Alcaraz in the Pabellon Fuente de San Luis in Valencia. In the first singles match of the day, veteran Robert Bautista Agut showed his well-known stamina against French youngster Arthur Fils and secured a 1-0 lead with a 2-6, 7-5, 6-3 victory after just under three hours.

The four-time Grand Slam champion took this into his match against Ugo Humbert and left no doubt from the start that he wanted to secure his team’s ticket to the final tournament in Malaga before the final doubles match. In 80 minutes, the 21-year-old world number 3 defeated his 26-year-old opponent 6:2, 6:2.

This means that the two teams that qualified for Malaga, Australia and Spain, will face each other in a direct duel for group victory, while France and the Czech Republic will only be competing for points for the national rankings.
