Handball Bundesliga – Thüringer HC loses after a bad start against Dortmund – Sport

Bad Langensalza (dpa) – The Bundesliga handball players of the Thüringer HC suffered a setback in their first home game. Five days after the 28:17 opening victory in Leverkusen, the team coached by Herbert Müller lost to Borussia Dortmund 29:30 (13:17). In front of 1,327 spectators, Johanna Reichert was the best scorer with nine goals. Former THC player Alicia Langer led BVB with seven goals.

The Thuringians, who had to play without a regular right winger, got off to a catastrophic start. They had no power in attack and showed great weaknesses in their retreat behavior. After six minutes, BVB were leading 5:0. The moderators then turned up the intensity significantly and reduced the score to 6:8 by the twelfth minute. The Dortmund team, however, were not put off by this and could rely on their strong backcourt throwers at all times. Their lead grew again by halftime.

The Thuringians came out of the locker room with a lot of energy and reduced the score to 19:20 (38th minute). However, they could not maintain this momentum for long. BVB mercilessly exploited THC’s weak phase and pulled ahead to 28:23 (51st minute). Although the Thuringians showed strong morale and came close again, they could no longer seriously endanger Dortmund’s victory.
