Manish Sisodia and Atishi share sweets as Arvind Kejriwal gets out on bail after 6 months – WATCH

AAP leaders Manish Sisodia, Saurabh Bharadwaj and Atishi joined party workers to celebrate the release of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on bail in a corruption case registered by the Central Bureau of Investigation under the now-defunct Liquor Act. Party leaders gathered outside Kejriwal’s residence and distributed sweets. Granting bail to Kejriwal, who was in jail for the past six months, Justice Ujjal Bhuyan questioned the timing and manner of Kejriwal’s arrest by the CBI. He also said it would be a judicial travesty to keep Kejriwal in custody when he was granted bail in the ED case on the same grounds.

“Arvind Kejriwal has been granted bail and will be released from jail today. There are two judgments on the legality of his arrest. One judgment says it was not legal. The other judgment says the arrest was totally illegal and the manner in which the CBI acted was also illegal. He should be released,” said lawyer Rishikesh Kumar.

He added that “scathing remarks” had been made against the CBI and that the CBI was acting like a “caged parrot”, as was the case in previous judgments.

AAP leader and lawyer Somnath Bharti said, “This is the best time for this order because right now there is only one hope in India: the release of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal from prison.”
