Start and broadcast date of DSDS 2024

You should Wednesday, 18 September 2024 because that’s when the first casting episode of the new season will be broadcast. If you want to watch the show on TV, you should tune in from 8:15 p.m. However, the impatient among you have the chance to see the premiere a week earlier, on September 11, 2024, on the RTL+ streaming platform. This privilege requires a subscription and also applies to all other episodes of the 21st season, which will be available online one week before the television broadcast.

Changes this year: Shortened season and a live show

Last year’s ratings didn’t exactly delight the TV station, which led to a reduction in the number of episodes. Only 15 episodes are planned for this season. The most striking change in the show’s format is that there will only be one live broadcast. This could also offer the opportunity for a person over 90 to be named German Superstar of the Year for the first time.

No age limit in season 21

Until now it was necessary between 16 and 30 years old to beerm, a DSDS expert. While the minimum age remains unchanged, there are now no upper age limits. As Dieter put it: “until they’re apparently dead”, everyone with singing talent is welcome. According to RTL, Dieter Bohlen fought hard for this change in the age limit and is now looking forward to the diversity of the new applicants. Perhaps some more agile seniors with vocal abilities will now take part? At its core, the show is about finding a superstar, although the actual finding is never guaranteed. The castings began on December 16, 2023 in Cologne and ended at the end of April 2024. Production of the show has already begun and the results will be broadcast next month.

This is the DSDS jury

This year, the jury members can expect a particularly high number of applicants. It is now clear who will be Dieter Bohlen sits together on the jury. The rapper Loredana was charged with fraud a few years ago, but the proceedings were not opened; instead, they were dropped after a settlement was reached. She admitted to posing as a lawyer and thus taking a sum of around 430,000 francs (around 400,000 euros). She paid the victims back more than the damage caused, admitted her wrongdoing and apologized. One of Loredana’s brothers was also involved. You can find more information about this in Spiegel. She committed the fraud before the start of her rap career, which began in 2018 with the hit “Sunglasses”.
