Gundermann and more from Scheer & Dresen

When the film “Gundermann” came to cinemas in 2018, director Andreas Dresen and Gundermann actor Alexander Scheer came together to play the soundtrack live at the film premiere. This resulted in a successful band project that, even six years later, still presents the songwriter’s songs, such as “Gras” and “Linda”, live. The first live album, “Immer wieder nie genug”, has also been released, which also includes one or two covers by other musicians, including songs by David Bowie and Gisbert zu Knyphausen. In September, Alexander Scheer, Andreas Dresen and band will play “Gundis” songs and certainly more in Leipzig Open Air on the Geyserhaus park stage.

On solo acoustic tour: Jochen Distelmeyer

The songwriter and author Jochen Distelmeyer is known for his idiosyncratic and unusual German-language lyrics. The former frontman of the band Blumfeld has been on the road solo since they broke up in 2007. Three albums have been released since then, including one with exclusively English-language cover versions. As part of his current acoustic tour, he is coming to Leipzig and will play songs from all phases of his work at UT Connewitz – whether Blumfeld hits, solo material or cover versions.

The broccoli among folk musicians: Svavar Knútur

The Icelandic folk musician Svavar Knútur is an artist with many facets. He is a language enthusiast and likes to describe himself as a public health troubadour, the broccoli of the soul – not the tastiest vegetable, but it’s good for you. In his songs, the singer-songwriter tells of the hard but not joyless life on the rough Icelandic Westfjord. According to the critics, he does this with “wonderful simplicity and unfiltered emotions”. Live, he is said to enchant his audience with his lightness and his sympathy – and you can look forward to a good portion of black Icelandic humor.
