Maggie Haberman confronts Trump with the triggering truth about his new spin

Former President and current Republican candidate Donald Trump may be desperately trying to portray his poor performance in Tuesday’s debate with his Democratic rival Kamala Harris as a “major victory” for himself.

But on Thursday’s broadcast of Wolf Blitzer’s CNN show “The Situation Room,” New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman disagreed.

Trump “aggressively rejects all criticism and says he won a debate that every objective voice I have heard largely agrees he did not win, he lost,” she said.

However, it is an “open question” how this could affect the election, Haberman continued. “We will know more in the next few days. We will see what the polls show. We will see if Vice President Harris gets a boost.”

Trump had “a tough performance” in what was “arguably” his worst debate, perhaps surpassed only by his one-on-one duel with then-Democratic candidate Joe Biden in 2020, when he repeatedly shouted at his rival, Haberman added.

“Yeah, it was pretty bad for Trump last night,” Blitzer replied.

Commentators from both parties jointly criticized Trump’s performance at the debate.

However, immediately after the one-on-one meeting, Trump even visited the post-debate spin room and claimed it was his “best debate ever” – a comment that drew ridicule on social media.
