Online appointment ends for young men in hospital

An online date ended in hospital for two young men. According to the Bremen police, the two fell into a “love trap.”

They wanted sex, but got beaten instead: An 18-year-old and a 21-year-old had arranged a sex date with a 17-year-old on the Internet – but at the meeting point in Bremen-Bürglesum they were attacked by a group of robbers. The incident occurred on Thursday evening, as the Bremen police announced in a letter.

The internet acquaintance had been waiting for the young men on Mahlstedtstrasse. From there, she lured her men into a park. Several robbers then emerged from a bush and had to beat the two of them “with aluminum baseball bats and fists.”

The group stole several valuables from the two victims and also stole the car keys. They drove away in the stolen vehicle. The young men were later taken to hospital. The 18-year-old lost several teeth.

With the support of Lower Saxony police, Bremen police have managed to temporarily arrest several suspected perpetrators. These were six young people aged between 14 and 18 and the 17-year-olds. According to police, further investigations are ongoing for serious robbery.

The officers warn against the so-called “love trap”. They advise visiting public and familiar places when flirting online. “Never arrange to meet in an apartment or in an unfamiliar place,” recommends the Bremen police. “Choose a busy place, preferably a bar or café.” It could also help to tell people you trust about the meeting in advance and also to say where the meeting is taking place.
