Difference between lie detector test and narcoanalysis

There is a fundamental difference between a polygraph test and a narcotics analysis: A polygraph test, also known colloquially as a “lie detector test”, measures physiological reactions such as blood pressure, pulse and breathing of the person being interviewed and is based on the assumption that a person’s physiological reactions are different when they lie.

In narcoanalysis, on the other hand, the person being questioned is injected with sodium pentothal, also known colloquially as the “truth drug” or “truth serum.” This puts the person in question into a state of hypnosis in which they are supposed to only tell the truth.

None of the tests may be carried out without the consent of the person on whom it is performed.

On Wednesday evening, CBI officials took the dental impression of Roy. According to sources, the dental impression of the accused is often considered as an important evidence during investigations in rape or rape and murder cases. Since Roy is the only accused arrested in this case so far, the needful has been done.

Roy was initially arrested by police officers of a Special Investigation Team of the Calcutta Police, which conducted the initial investigation into the case before a bench of the Calcutta High Court handed over the control of the investigation to the CBI.

At the moment, the main focus of the CBI’s investigation is to find out whether Roy was the only perpetrator of the crime or whether there are others involved. The investigators are also probing allegations of evidence tampering and serious lapses on the part of the city police, which conducted the initial investigation before it was handed over to them.
