The European Central Bank is lowering its key interest rates again. The deposit rate, which is crucial for the financial markets, fell by 0.25 percentage points to 3.5 percent. Banks receive this rate if they invest surplus money in the short term with the central bank. The ECB hopes that a reduction in interest rates will have a positive impact on economic growth. Stork spectacle in Mainz’s Rheinallee

There are strange things to observe on Mainz’s Rheinallee. Dozens of storks are sitting on the street lamps in the industrial area. It is probably a “travel group” – this is the word used by Jessica Lehmann from the Palatinate Stork campaign. She assumes that the storks are gathering here for their migration south, or perhaps they are already coming from the north and stopping off in Mainz. On Rheinallee there is the waste incineration plant and the sewage treatment plant, and storks love to eat rats and mice, which is why they love garbage. Lehmann assumes that most of the storks will continue to migrate south in the next few days.
