NFL: Dolphins quarterback suffers another head injury

The Miami Dolphins lost to the Buffalo Bills 10:31 on Thursday at the start of NFL Week Two – and also lost their quarterback.

Already on the second game day of the new NFL season, Tua Tagovailoa had to end a game early due to a concussion.

In the third quarter, with the score at 10:31 from the Dolphins’ perspective, Tagovailoa probably ran through the middle of the field to get a new first down for his team. The 26-year-old collided with the forearm of Bills safety Damar Hamlin and had to be treated by the medical team on the field.

Backup quarterback Skylar Thompson, who played eight NFL games in 2022, finished the game with the Dolphins and, if Tagovailoa is not cleared to play against the Seattle Seahawks, will most likely be back in action in week three.

Tagovailoa threw three interceptions before the injury

Although head coach Mike McDaniel announced after the defeat that he had no concrete timetable in mind for Tagovailoa’s return, he will give journalists an update on the health of his star player on Friday morning (local time).

The injured quarterback was already out with two concussions in 2022, and he also suffered one during his college days with the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Even before his injury, Tagovailoa had a bad day, throwing three interceptions, including a pick-six to Ja’Marcus Ingram, who finished the game with two interceptions. Christian Benford also managed an interception.

The celebrated hero of the Bills offense on Thursday is running back James Cook with two rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown.
