Whistles and criticism for scandal man Paire in Rennes

Benoit Paire has been considered a “bad boy” in the tennis circus for many years.

This week, the now 35-year-old Frenchwoman also made a questionable appearance.

In the first round of the Rennes Challenger tournament, Paire was eliminated from the tournament after just 37 minutes of play.

The former world number 18 did play one game in the 1:6, 0:6 defeat against Briton Jacob Fearnley, but only scored 21 points in total.

Paire is booed after match point

After Paire served a double fault on match point, the local hero was booed loudly by the French fans for his lackluster performance. The extroverted Frenchman said goodbye by blowing air kisses towards the audience.

An idea that also got tournament director Nicolas Mahut riled up: “I watched four games and immediately understood that there was no point in staying too long. It would have been better for him and for the audience if he had retired,” Mahut shook his head at his compatriot’s idea.

Paire recently underwent surgery on his left wrist for the sixth time. On Twitter, he commented on criticism from one of his people with three laughing smileys.
