‘CBI has to prove it is an unleashed parrot’: Supreme Court’s strong observation in Arvind Kejriwal’s bail hearing | Latest India News

Justice Ujjal Bhuyan questioned the CBI about the arrest of Arvind Kejriwal when he was in the custody of the law enforcement agency.

The Supreme Court on Friday sharply criticized the Central Bureau of Investigation’s arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the Delhi Customs policy case in June, saying the agency must prove that it is now a “freed parrot.”

While granting bail to Arvind Kejriwal, who has been in custody since March 11, Justice Ujjal Bhuyan said the CBI must dispel the notion that he is a caged parrot.

“The CBI has to dispel the notion that this is a caged parrot. It has to show that this is an uncaged parrot,” he said.

The opposition uses the term “caged parrot” to refer to the alleged influence of the central government on the functioning of the agency.
