Europa-Park: Roller coaster passenger undergoes precautionary examination

Minutes of shock for 20 guests on the Blue Fire roller coaster at Europa-Park Rust (Ortenau district): A train stopped for 40 minutes on the ascent. A woman was examined as a precaution.

Instead of the promised “looping action”, some passengers at Europa-Park Rust were literally hanging in the air on Wednesday. At midday, a train on the Blue Fire Megacoaster attraction tilted sideways during the ascent – this was confirmed by a spokesperson for the theme park. The 20 passengers had to wait 40 minutes on the train. There were apparently no children on board.

A woman complained of discomfort after the incident. She was examined as a precautionary measure. All 20 passengers received free tickets from Europa-Park for another visit.

According to a spokesman, the train had too little energy during the so-called launch and was therefore unable to overcome the first climb on the route. A small part needed for the magnetic start was then replaced. The train was driven back as planned – there was “no danger” to the passengers “at any time”. The people were able to get off on the ground.

At around 1 p.m., a train on the roller coaster was unable to overcome the first climb due to low energy at the start.

SWR reporter Luisa Bleich explains how the roller coaster came to a stop:

Not the first incident with the roller coaster

There had already been problems with the Blue Fire in April. The train had not made it over the first hill after a catapult launch and had to be rolled back twice with people on board. A technical defect was identified and repaired at the time.
