On October 5, 1997, history was made at WWE Bad Blood in St. Louis when Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker faced off in the first-ever Hell In A Cell match.

Michaels and Undertaker engaged in a bloody, exhausting match that lasted about 30 minutes, with “The Heartbreak Kid” emerging victorious.

Today, 27 years later to the day, the event returns as WWE Bad Blood 2024 and will take place at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. The main event of the show was announced on the September 9 edition of WWE Monday Night Raw, pitting bitter rivals CM Punk against Drew McIntyre. Like Michaels and The Undertaker, it will take place at Hell In A Cell.

Even though Punk suffered a torn triceps, the feud was able to intensify even further and become one of the best, if not the best, WWE feud of 2024.

From the moment the Chicago native cost McIntyre his newly won World Heavyweight Championship on the first night of WrestleMania 40 to the moment he lost him the same title at Clash at the Castle and Money in the Bank, Punk was a thorn in McIntyre’s side every step of the way.

They eventually met at SummerSlam and McIntyre was victorious. But Punk took revenge four weeks later at Bash in Berlin, taking his first WWE victory in over 10 years in a strap match. The score seemed settled, but McIntyre would have none of it on the Labor Day edition of WWE Monday Night Raw when he attacked Punk and brutally beat him bloody. This attack led to the announcement of the Hell in the Cell match at WWE Bad Blood on Raw on September 9.
