Teenagers accused of car theft in Albany must appear in court

The teenagers accused of stealing a car in Albany on Monday are due back in court Thursday afternoon.

Nah-queviar Wright, 19, of Albany, and Malachi Annan, 18, were charged with illegal possession of a firearm and illegal possession of stolen property.

This began on Monday around 4:10 p.m. near Catherine Street and Oneida Street. Officers saw three youths in a 2008 Mercedes Benz that had been reported stolen. A passenger exited the car with a gun, but then got back in and fled.

Annan had previously been arrested on Sunday, September 1, for robbery for allegedly displaying an air rifle and stealing $40 from a person near the corner of North Pearl and Steuben Streets.

Wright was arraigned and bail was set at $15,000 cash or surety. Annan was taken to the Albany County Jail without bail.

The 16-year-old driver, whose name is being withheld due to age, was charged in Albany County Family Court with reckless endangerment, unlawful fleeing from police in a motor vehicle, illegal possession of stolen property, illegal possession of a firearm and traffic violations.
