Croatia does well in the premiere city derby – Siezenheim beats Adnet – Football Salzburg – Results, tables and scorers from all Salzburg leagues.

UFC Croatia Salzburg had to admit defeat in the city derby against West League dominator Austria Salzburg after a brilliant performance with a narrow 0:2 score. The second Wednesday match between SK Adnet and UFC Siezenheim ended with the same result.

Not quite two years after their last appearance at the PSV pitch (in October 2022 against ASK_PSV), Salzburg Austria returned to their old stomping ground today, where they had played their home games for a while after the club was re-founded in 2006. The western league team, which rotated a little compared to the Kuchl game, but left a sextet in the starting eleven with Zia, Sandmayr, Fonjga, Gruber, Zottl and Schiedermeier, set the tone against the “second-grader” from the start. In the 20th minute, the violet dominance paid off for the first time – Nico Schiedermeier made it 0-1 after the Croatia defense had previously failed to clear the ball decisively. “Austria was really, really good, but we were also able to make pinpricks now and then,” says Croatia section manager Bozo Tadic.

The performance of the Croatians at the beginning of the second half gave Tadic hope. “That was a phase in which I had the feeling that it could actually happen. Our team showed great combinations and played well in the first five or ten minutes.” Because the Austrians were not in the mood for a draw, they finally sealed the deal with substitute striker Marinko Sorda – 0:2 (74th). The bottom line is that the West League leaders moved safely into the quarter-finals. Meanwhile, the second-placed team in the 2nd Class North B could be proud of themselves. “It was a really great party. With a bit of luck we could have scored a goal too. But I think that if a 2nd Class team only loses 0:2 against the leaders of the Regional League West, then that’s really great,” says Tadic, adding: “Better than Kuchl, who lost 0:3.”

Regional league team Adnet also put up a good fight against Salzburg league bottom club Siezenheim, who had just started the rotation machine for the round of 16 match. “Although we swapped all eleven positions, it was a serious performance that impressed me a little,” enthused Siezenheim coach Peter Urbanek. The guests defied a strong start by the home team Marmordörfler (goalie Menth defused two Zivkovic attempts) with a free kick goal by Eric Hoppenthaler (25th) and finally secured their quarter-final ticket through Moritz Waldmann in the final act – 0:2 (70th). “Advancing was our absolute goal. We took the first step this week and want to continue exactly where we left off on Friday,” said Urbanek, who will be visiting SAK with his Siezenheim team in just two days.
