PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Turn down the temperatures and get the Zambonis ready, the Pittsburgh Penguins will be back in town starting next week.

This morning, the team announced that it will open its 2024-25 training camp on September 18 at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex.

At the start of training camp, the Penguins will spend three days training and doing conditioning exercises divided into three teams.

On Wednesday, September 18, teams one and two will have their first practice from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. and then a practice game at 10:00 a.m.

After teams one and two, team three will go on the ice and train from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. There will then be a conditioning training session at 12:40 p.m.

On non-match days, the training camp is free and open to the public.

After three days of practice and conditioning, the team will open its preseason schedule on Saturday, September 21st at 7 p.m. in Buffalo at the KeyBank Center against the Sabres.

The Penguins have seven preseason games scheduled this year, including a Kraft HockeyVille game in Sudbury, Ontario against the Ottawa Senators on September 29.

The Penguins will open the regular season at home against Metropolitan Division rivals the New York Rangers on October 9 at 7:30 p.m.
