Man City’s hearing begins on MONDAY over 115 alleged breaches of Premier League financial rules – Alan Shearer speaks out

The hearing into Manchester City’s 115 alleged breaches of Premier League financial rules begins on Monday.

City have been accused of financial irregularities for nine years since 2009. The ultimate penalty for a guilty verdict is relegation. Points deductions and fines are also possible penalties.

The league accused City of failing to provide accurate financial information and details of payments to players and managers.

The investigation was triggered by the publication of Football Leaks documents by Der Spiegel in 2018. City is accused of having funneled money from the club’s owners through sponsors in the United Arab Emirates.

The hearing was reportedly set to begin in September, but it has now been confirmed that it will start in a few days.

The master is accused of financial irregularities over a period of nine years.

City aims for fifth consecutive title and defends its position at an independent investigation

The city, which declined to comment, denies any wrongdoing and is defending its case in an independent investigation.

City won the Premier League three times between 2009 and 2018, taking the top division title in 2012, 2014 and 2018.

They are currently ranked first and are also aiming to regain the Champions League after winning it in the 2022-23 season.

Meanwhile, Alan Shearer has outlined his views on the proceedings ahead of the hearing beginning next week.

The all-time Premier League record goalscorer admitted it will be difficult to truly follow the possible outcome of the current situation, but does not expect a quick resolution.

“The Manchester City hearing begins next week and although there were point deductions for Everton and Forest last season, we recently learned that Leicester’s argument was upheld by the independent panel,” Shearer writes on Betfair. “I have no idea what will happen with Manchester City.”

“I think in the next few weeks, months, or however long it takes, none of us will know what is going on, what is happening behind these walls, or what the verdict will be, if there is one at all.”

“It’s just a matter of waiting and then we’ll all have to make a judgment when the time comes. I think it’s going to be a very long time before it comes out.”

“We don’t know whether they will be found guilty on one, some or all of the charges. So I think it’s almost impossible to predict what will happen.”

City return to Premier League action after the international break on Saturday against Brentford.
