Season start for Kassel Huskies and EC Bad Nauheim in the DEL2

Season start for Kassel Huskies and EC Bad Nauheim in the DEL2

The Kassel Huskies and the EC Bad Nauheim start the new DEL2 season on Friday. But how strong are the Hessian teams? FFH does the check before the new season.

The Kassel Huskies have once again set themselves the goal of finally achieving promotion to the DEL. To achieve this, a completely new coaching staff has been hired. And a lot has changed in the background too. In short: Head chef Paul Sinizin turned the North Hesse team upside down in the summer.

Todd Woodcroft and new foreigners

A modern coach has been announced – and Woodcroft will certainly bring new momentum to the Nordhessen Arena. In addition, Woodcroft has been given a DEL2 expert as his assistant, Väkiparta. As nice as it is to have an ambitious and strong team, the pressure is also great. The North Hesse audience expects nothing less than victories, victories and victories – ideally with lots of goals and spectacle. Three new foreign strikers have been brought in for this. Cutler, Turgeon and Garlent are supposed to make the difference.

Huskies ready for the next step

On paper, everything has been done to ensure a good season and possible promotion. It starts on Friday in Weißwasser, before the first home game of the promoted Weiden comes to the Nordhessen Arena on Sunday. Unsurprisingly, the Huskies are favorites twice.

Bad Nauheim with a new old face

The EC Bad Nauheim is relying on its assistant coach Adam Mitchell, who is now also fully responsible. Having learned under former coach Lange, Mitchell will have a similarly successful start. The results of the preparations are sobering, however. And even if these are games “worthless”, it is clear that Bad Nauheim is struggling. The young Lunemann will remain in goal and will have an experienced man at his side: a new old face in ex-Husky Jerry Kuhn.

New head coach in FFH interview

In the FFH interview, however, Mitchell’s goal is clear: “We want to get back into the playoffs and perform better than last year.” On the way there, Mitchell will work on the Red Devils’ defense, because: “We want to play aggressive, combative hockey – but we also want to concede fewer goals than last year.”

Vause is missing as an X-factor

Taylor Vause continues to be the X-factor in Bad Nauheim’s game. After his serious injury last season, the Central Hesse team suddenly found themselves fighting against relegation. And he is still missing from the pre-season due to injury – just like at the start of the season. And it was already clear in the test games that he will hardly be able to be replaced this year – even an experienced Brent Aubin. Parker Bowles was signed as a goal scorer, and Coffman’s contract was extended. Two players who certainly know exactly where the box is. The big question mark remains the defense. The pivotal player Schmidt is no longer there – it remains to be seen whether Bode Wild can really fill the gap.

Crisp start

And so the first few weeks are a do-or-die affair for Mitchell’s new team. The start on Friday in Freiburg will certainly be unpleasant and the home game against financially strong Crimmitschau on Sunday will certainly not be a walk in the park. This season, too, it will all come down to the fans. They often make the difference at the Colonell Knight Stadium. A good start to the season is also very important for the atmosphere in the stadium and the surrounding area.
