TuS Lemförde is introducing a new division on September 28th: Steel Darts. The club wants to grow and create a new offering. Chairman Paul-Hermann Broi and division founder Marcus Borchert are hoping for a good influx of players.

Lemförde – Indeed: No darts there! Marcus Borchert didn’t bring any with him either, which is why the press event remains a boring press event. Unfortunately, throwing a quick round of “501 double-out” on the dartboard is not possible. But on September 28th, things will be completely different. That’s when the newly founded “Steel Dart” division at TuS Lemförde wants to present itself to the public and actively recruit players. Three freshly unpacked dart boards with surround lighting are already ready for use in the extension of the Lemförde sports hall. “This is the newest material you can have,” says Marcus Borchert, founding father of the division, proudly of the boards.

According to chairman Paul-Hermann Broi, there is a simple reason why TuS Lemförde is expanding its darts division. “We want to grow, we want to expand. “Standing still is a step backwards,” he says, and is happy to be able to offer something new in the club again. Marcus Borchert is taking over the organization of the division. And he is starting with two, so to speak. Because there are no more members to start with. But the experienced darts player, who has played e-darts – also darts on electronic boards – for years with the “Leuenfort Löwen”, is sure that it will not stop there. “Darts are currently booming,” he says. And while Paul-Hermann Broi is hoping for an influx of “15 to 20 players” in the near future, Borchert goes further: “I actually think there will be more.”

The conditions at TuS Lemförde are good. The new boards can be safely stored in cabinets specially made for the club. The extension to the sports hall also offers enough space. The pub image that is often associated with sport has no place here.

The club has spent around 8,000 euros on purchasing all the equipment, confirms club boss Broi. 3,000 euros of this has been applied for as funding.

Now the whole thing has to be made operational. The start is planned for Saturday, September 28th, at 11 a.m. Then everyone can go to the sports hall in Lemförde to find out about the new division and the game of darts itself, try out their skills and maybe find out: “Hey, that’s exactly my sport!” The introductory day also includes a sale of everything needed for darts. Training will then take place every Thursday evening. “The offer is open to everyone aged 14 and over. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a man or a woman. “And maybe we’ll increase the training offer to twice a week occasionally,” says Marcus Borchert. For him, the participation of one or more teams in a league game is “the clear goal.”
