Sources: Justin Timberlake reaches agreement to resolve DWI case in the Hamptons

Justin Timberlake has reached an agreement to settle his drunk driving case in the Hamptons, sources familiar with the matter told ABC News.

The pop star is scheduled to appear in Sag Harbor Village Court on Friday to plead guilty and pay a fine, which would resolve the misdemeanor charge, the sources said.

His lawyer did not comment to ABC News on Wednesday.

Timberlake was leaving the American Hotel in June when he was stopped for ignoring a stop sign and crossing into oncoming traffic. According to a police report, the officer could smell alcohol on his breath.

In a criminal complaint, police added that Timberlake had bloodshot, glassy eyes. He also spoke slowly, was unsteady on his feet and performed poorly on a breathalyzer test, the complaint said.

The criminal complaint stated that Timberlake told the arresting officer that he had only had one drink.

As a result of his arrest, Timberlake’s driver’s license was also suspended because he refused to take a chemical test at the time. However, since it was an out-of-state license, this only affects his New York driving privileges.

He has twice pleaded not guilty to charges stemming from his drunken driving arrest. After his first plea of not guilty, a re-arraignment took place on August 2, where the singer appeared virtually after a paperwork error occurred at the first arraignment.

Following his arrest, Timberlake spoke about what he was going through during an appearance at the United Center in Chicago on June 21.

“We’ve been through ups and downs and left and right,” he said.

“It’s been a rough week,” he continued. “But you’re here and I’m here.”

Timberlake is currently on his “The Forget Tomorrow World Tour.” His next show will be later this month in New Jersey.
