Former football player Jason Kelce with funny beer ad: Textile-free meets stripe-free

Former football player Jason Kelce with funny beer ad: Textile-free meets stripe-free

Warning, this text is about: beer. Half-naked bodies washing a car. And about Taylor Swift. At least in some way. But before you start the wrong chain of associations: it wasn’t the US pop star who tried to clean a monster truck without streaks, but his brother-in-law: Jason Kelce, a former football player and brother of Swift’s partner Travis Kelce, has now recreated this classic and previously female advertising motif in a visually stunning way.

The 36-year-old, who retired from the NFL in March, appears in a beer advert alongside Beau Allen, his long-time teammate with the Philadelphia Eagles. The advert shows Kelce and Allen trying to clean their truck with a garden hose and realising that it’s really no fun. Rescue comes in the form of a chilled load of canned beer, which encourages the two to clean the truck faster, in a much better mood and with as little clothing as possible. What follows is even more canned beer, lots of foam and lots and lots of chest hair.

Jason Kelce and Beau Allen turn car wash into beer advertisement

Kelce has been a very busy man since he retired: the former NFL professional advertises cornflakes, canned soup and has recently become a TV pundit. It goes without saying that he has a podcast. In a way, he is the Lukas Podolski of American football. Prince Poldi was seen more often during the European Football Championship than half the German squad combined – even if his presence was limited exclusively to the commercial breaks.

But if we assume that everything that happens in the USA will eventually spill over into the media in Europe, does that mean that it will soon no longer be enough for Schweini and Poldi to just hold bags of chips in front of the camera? After all, hardly anyone can deny that the German football advertising stars have a sense of humor. Unforgettable in this context: Joshua Kimmich, who actually advertised a razor without batting an eyelid.

Will canned soup be advertised at the fireplace instead of nougat cream at the breakfast table? It’s possible. One piece of advice from advertising icon Taylor Kelce, who served up a hearty, spicy stew in this way while wearing a bathrobe, was: “It’s good to be spicy.” In other words: “It’s good to be a bit spicy.” If you have to, you can wash your car pretty spicy. The clip seems to have reached the predominantly female target group.
